Risk:
Webster's definition: "the chance of injury, damage, or loss; dangerous chance". Lisa Terpening (age 10): "all the bad stuff that can happen to you"
Obviously, some risk in life is unavoidable. The best we can do is try to identify risk as it applies to our individual situation, decide how to best manage the financial effect of that risk and take whatever preventative action we can. An example of risk identification and management would be the financial risks associated with health problems during retirement. While the degree of risk may not be specifically measurable, we can look at the possible financial effect of a serious health problem and suggest how to manage that risk using insurance programs such as extended health coverage and new types of insurance such as Critical Illness or Long-term Care coverage. At Braun Financial, we will review your situation to identify the areas that are a source of risk for you and then suggest how to deal with that risk. We will then review your existing insurance program (individual and group life and health insurance) to ensure that you have protected yourself and your loved ones as well as you can from the financial impact of "all the bad stuff" We can provide this service for you on a stand-alone basis or as an integral part of your overall financial plan. |
